CALL FOR PAPERS

The National Film Institute Journal of Film Studies: "Beyond the Scene" is a bi-annual Journal of the National Film Institute Jos, Plateau state, an affiliate of the University of Jos. The Journal is a peer-reviewed scholarly Journal aimed at promoting the development of theory and advancement of film studies in Nigeria and targeted at the realization of the objectives for the establishment of the Institute. Hence we invite authors and scholars in the academic community, film industry and all interested researchers to submit original and thoroughly researched articles written in English for publication in the second edition of our Journal. Contributions are welcome but not limited to the following thematic areas;

  • Culture, Change and Continuity in the Nigerian Film Industry.
  • Film Archival Studies and Cultural Heritage.
  • Film as a Tool for Peace-Building and National Security.
  • Film as an Instrument for Cultural Re-orientation and attitudinal Change.
  • Film as a Tool for Wealth Creation, Empowerment and National Unity.
  • Stereotyping women in Film.
  • Directing Film and Television.
  • New Media Technology and the Film Industry.

The complete Journals shall be published by the 30th November, 2018.

Submission Guideline and Instructions

  • Author/Researcher who wishes to submit a manuscript should note that the manuscript should not have been submitted elsewhere nor should it be up for consideration in any journal prior to submission. On this note, the article should be the original work of the Author.
  • The Institute welcomes high quality theoretical and empirical original research papers case studies, review papers, literature reviews, book reviews, conceptual frameworks, Analytical and simulation models, technical notes from researchers, academicians, professionals, practitioners and Post Graduate students from all over the world.
  • The reviewers are responsible for the selection and acceptance of manuscripts, but the responsibility of the statements expressed and accuracies of facts within the manuscripts solely rest with the individual author(s). Note that all submissions shall sbe vetted to prevent plagiarism.
  • Authors are to submit a paper or journal abstract of not more than 500 words to the Editors IN PDF or Microsoft word format, and will be requested to submit the full manuscript within 30 days of the submission abstracts must be submitted within 3 weeks of this notification on or before 20th August, 2017.
  • On request, all submissions of the full journal manuscript must be submitted to the editors using a standard Microsoft Word format, Times New Roman, 12 font size and 1.5-line spacing, on or before 20th September, 2018.
  • Articles may contain any combination of tables, charts, or graphics to enhance the submission.
  • Every article should have on the first page the following:
  • Title of paper.
  • Name of Author(s) (Surname in CAPS and first)
  • Academic title, Institutional Affiliation, e-mail address and mobile telephone details.
  • All articles and reference information must conform to the sixth (6th) edition format of the APA style.
  • Acceptance notification shall be within 5-7 days of submission.
